Envisioned by Chef Raul Gamble, Raison D’Etre (RDE) merges contemporary cuisine with a unique dining experience. RDE offers an experience that fulfills the desire for both flavor and intimacy.
Nestled in Chicago’s’ Hyde Park- North Kenwood neighborhood guests will enjoy a 7 to 12 course pre-fixe tasting while dining amongst friends or new acquaintances in a private and exclusive setting.
The communal table is intimate and accommodates 8-10 guests. Each course is meticulously paired with a wine recommendation (BYOB) designed to complement and enhance flavor. RDE is a place where guests interact with the chef by welcoming them into the kitchen, sharing background on the wine selection and presenting each course to the table before it is served.

Chef Gamble is the chef/owner of Raison D’ Etre (RDE). He has worked in the kitchens of some of the most highly regarded restaurants including Alinea (Grant Achatz); Mini Bar (Jose Andres); and Adour (Alain Ducasse)
Chef Gamble created RAISON D’ETRE to re-imagine fine dining as an experience that makes people “Laugh” than “Think”. The cuisine at RDE is about making people happy, an adventurous culinary journey that inspires and challenges the conventional. Each course is a culinary experience inspired by the Dinner Theme and seasonal ingredients as envisioned by the Chef.
